A NATURAL APPROACH TO BALANCING YOUR HORMONES

A NATURAL APPROACH TO BALANCING YOUR HORMONES

Do you know what the common signs of a hormonal imbalance are? Many people don’t which is why these imbalances often go untreated. If you suspect a hormone imbalance you will want to watch out for the following symptoms:

  • Infertility and irregular periods
  • Weight gain or weight loss (Unexplained)
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Low libido
  • Changes in appetite
  • Digestive issues
  • Hair loss and hair thinning

There are many different kinds of hormonal imbalances such as PCOS, low estrogen, estrogen dominance, low testosterone, thyroid disorders, and adrenal fatigue. If you suffer from any of the above symptoms, it may be time to take a look at the root cause. A naturopath can help get to the bottom of the hormonal imbalance and set you on a path of rebalancing.

Hormones are chemical messengers that affect nearly every aspect of your health. When even one hormone is out of balance, you run the risk of causing an imbalance to your overall health. The good news is that there are things you can do to keep your hormones harmonious. Here are 3 tips to help you get started.

Tip #1: Avoid Known Hormone Disruptors

Believe it or not, a number of personal care products contain endocrine disruptors such as parabens and synthetic fragrance and colorings. Avoid the artificial products and choose a more natural and organic option when possible.

Tip #2: Enjoy Healthy Fats

Don’t be afraid of fat, so long as it’s healthy fat you could be doing your hormones a favor. Your body needs a variety of different fats to create hormones. Healthy fats are essential building blocks of hormones. Try adding some coconut oil, and avocados to your diet for a healthy boost.

Tip #3: Balance Your Omega-3 to Omega-6 Intake

Too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3 could be a recipe for hormone disruption. Avoid vegetable oils such as safflower, sunflower, corn, soybean, and peanut oil which are sources of omega-6 fatty acids. Instead, focus on getting enough wild caught salmon, chia seeds, and walnuts into your diet to help balance your hormones.
