Did you know that it can take a year of trying to conceive before a doctor may consider infertility as a potential issue?
While a whole year of trying to get pregnant may seem like a long time, there are things you can do to boost your chances of getting pregnant. Here are a handful of lifestyle recommendations to help boost your fertility.
- Exercise
- Reduce stress
- Reduce chemical exposure: This includes home cleaning products and toxic beauty products
- Quit smoking
- Limit alcohol
- Talk to your doctor about medications you may be able to cut back on
- Limit your caffeine intake
About 1 in 7 couples may have difficulty conceiving which is about 3.5 million people in the UK alone. Infertility is a real issue, but there are some steps you can take to better your chances of conceiving.
Tip #1: Consume Fat
Healthy fat that is. We need fat for hormone balance which is an important part of fertility. Try including things like avocados, coconut oil, wild caught salmon, nuts, and seeds into your diet.
Tip #2: Try Maca
Maca has long been used for its fertility benefits. This root helps to nourish the endocrine system and tastes great added to smoothies.
Tip #3: Fertility Tea
There are specific teas made to boost fertility, or you can just purchase a nettle or red raspberry leaf tea. Both of these have shown to have great benefits for fertility health. Red raspberry leaf tea in particular is packed full of minerals to help nourish the uterine lining.
For this week’s challenge, I encourage you to introduce fertility boosting foods into your diet.
- Green leafy vegetables
- Fruits
- Whole grains
- DHA/Omega 3 rich foods: Wild caught salmon, walnuts, flaxseeds
- Organic pasture raised eggs
- Plant-based proteins: Beans, lentils, nuts, seeds
- Stay hydrated with water!
- Bonus tip: Get adequate exercise, daily if possible.
