BOOSTING YOUR HEALTH FOR THE NEW YEAR

BOOSTING YOUR HEALTH FOR THE NEW YEAR

Did you know that it takes roughly 21 days to make a habit stick? Start the New Year off right by committing to a new habit and sticking to it for well over 21 days. Pick one thing that you want to work on and make it your goal to make it your new healthy habit this year.

With the New Year next week lots of people may be starting to think about New Year health goals. As a way to help you kickstart 2018 on a healthy note, I have three tips to get you started.

Tip #1: Maintain Good Levels of Protein

Protein takes longer to digest than carbs, helping you feel full, and also pushes your body to secrete the gut hormone peptide YY, which reduces hunger. When you bring protein to about 30% of your daily calories, you’ll naturally eat less. This might be beneficial to you post-holiday indulgences!

Tip #2: Enjoy One Smoothie Per Day

Committing to adding one smoothie to your diet per day is a great way to boost your overall health. Try adding superfoods in like chia and flaxseeds, coconut oil, and green leafy vegetables. Try having this smoothie for breakfast or for an afternoon snack.

Tip #3: Find Creative Ways to Exercise

Adding in a little more exercise to your day this new year is a great way to stay healthy. Try getting up 10 minutes earlier to walk the dogs, try winding down your day with a 10-minute yoga sequence, and always take the stairs whenever you can!

For this week’s challenge, I challenge you to try at least two of these tips for starting your New Year off right:

  • Get to bed earlier
  • De-stress
  • Eliminate toxic cleaning products and replace with homemade options using essential oils, distilled vinegar, and water
  • Try to exercise one extra day per week
  • Enjoy one smoothie per day
  • Try to add a superfood to each meal
  • Try a new fruit or vegetable
  • Add probiotics to your diet
