It’s not exactly the happiest of topics, but it’s one that needs to be addressed regardless. Death is something that we all need to keep in mind from time to time so that we can not only live a full and fulfilling life but also a long one, too. If we live our whole lives thinking we’re going to live forever, then we’ll never push ourselves to do the things we want to before it’s too late. As well as this, we might treat our mind and body poorly, causing us to pass prematurely and unnecessarily.
The good news is that mortality rates have actually fallen over time and our lives are slowly extending, meaning that the human race is healthier now than it ever has been before!
The current leading cause of death is heart disease which is caused by both exercise and diet, but also, stress. This makes destressing techniques as important as eating healthy and being regularly active. A lot of us actively reduce our mental health in pursuit of other things. We stay up late to answer emails, we drain ourselves worrying about meetings, and we run ourselves into the ground trying to just keep on top of the mass of things we need to do. Sometimes all we really need is just a few moments to breathe.
This week is all about realising what the true meaning of life is: happiness. I want you to look after your emotions and put yourself first. If something’s not working for you, then ask yourself If you really need it. If you don’t, get rid of it. If you do, then work out how you can make it better so that you’re not only healthier, but happier. I want you to stress less and smile more because after all, what’s life without joy?
