Did you know that essential oils have been around since early recorded history to support overall health? It has been recorded that ancient Egyptians used essential oils as medicine. Essential oils are stilled used today to help support wellness and are starting to become a popular way to support health.

Essential oils have very powerful health supporting properties and can help with a number of ailments. Here are some tips on how to get started with essential oils:

Tip #1: Use Essential Oils Aromatically  

One of the most common ways to use essential oils is in an oil diffuser. Try adding a couple of drops of your favorite essential oil to a diffuser in place of artificial candles.

Tip #2: Try to Use Essential Oils Topically         

Some essential oils can be used topically when mixed with a carrier oil such as coconut oil. They make great massage oils or you can make your own homemade lotion with a couple of drops of oil like lavender or peppermint.

Tip #3: Make a Relaxing Blend                     

If you’re feeling stressed or have a difficult time falling asleep at night, try adding a couple of drops of lavender essential oil to a plain unscented lotion and use before bed. Lavender is very calming and can help promote sleep.

For this week’s challenge, I challenge you to swap out some toxic fragrance or cleaning products for essential oils. Try swapping out some of the following:

  • Household cleaning products for a homemade cleaner using castile soap, distilled vinegar, and lemon essential oil
  • Candles for essential oils diffused in an oil diffuser
  • Scented lotion for unscented lotion with a few drops of essential oil
