February 11th, today, is World Day of the Sick which was an awareness day created by Pop John Paul II to bring awareness to those who are suffering from illness across the globe as well as those working hard to keep them healthy.
There are plenty of ways to keep yourself illness-free such as washing your hands, carrying alcohol-based hand sanitizer, and keeping the surfaces you’re frequently around spick and span.
However, if you are ill, then you want a fully-functioning immune system to make sure tht the illness doesn’t take hold or at least last too long. In order to improve your immune system, it’s important to maintain a healthy lifestyle by getting adequate rest, eating well, and exercising regularly.
In terms of your diet, make sure to eat a range of fruits and vegetables to ensure that you get the full range of vitamins and minerals. You may also want to take a multi-vitamin to ensure that you don’t miss out on anything important. If you do, then take it with meals so that it can be properly absorbed.
As well as this, any degree of smoking whether it be a pack-a-day or just social, can really dampen the abilities of your immune system.
Throughout this week, we’ll be sharing more tips on how to avoid sickness and keep yourself healthy throughout the year!
