What is Ginger?

Ginger is a herb that is commonly known as ‘ginger spice’, which is popular in cooking. It is part of the Zingiberaceae family, which is the same family as turmeric. The name “ginger” has changed over the years, but originally came from the Sanskrit word “srngaveram” which means “horn body” and describes its root. Ginger has white and pink buds that can develop into yellow flowers with the root being used commonly as a herbal remedy.
