What is Red Clover?
Red Clover is a herb that is part of the Fabaceae family and is native to Europe, Western Asia and north-West Africa. This herb has a distinct purple-red flower on a long thin green stem and gets its genus name Trifolium from the Latin “tres” meaning “three” and “folium” for “leaf”, and the type of species “pratense” meaning “of the meadows” which is where the red clover plant is commonly found.
